Suspended Braille is inspired by my continuing investigation of spatially coded visual language patterns of design. The suspended stones are beautiful emanations of nature arranged in formal mathematical patterns reflecting the Braille code systems. Each piece is a sculptural form depending on the scale of the stones themselves, both delicate and grand, while also articulating a unique word, phrase, or poem. The patterns are revealed through the act of reading , the act of using sight. However, the sculptural qualities of the pieces beckon a visceral experience as well. These pieces are tactile: they can be touched. Meaning and knowledge are created by our touch + our sight.
